When complete you can then store them in a pocket or punch holes in the corners and store them on ribbon/string attached to a keyring for a more fun way to present them.

Book Template 0
I wish I could take credit for this as it's a great idea but I can't. I can't remember where I picked it up but it's worth sharing - If it belongs to you please let me know so that I can credit it to you inshaAllah. Anyway, this is a powerpoint presentation template of a book and it's a great tool for assessing how much your children know and understand a subject. It can be used to retell a story or for a factual book on a topic you have been studying - you can even record you or your children reading the text and then incorporate it into the slide show. Fantastic resource and lot's of fun.

English/Literacy Resources

Grammar Posters
Grammar posters explaining nouns, pro-nouns and verbs with action pictures from the Jolly Phonics books.

Mini Book Titles
This is a sample of some of the titles we used for our mini-books. The kids loved making these. We had a box with all the titles in and a stack of blank mini books near by - they just took a book pulled out a title and wrote; drew pictures etc about that subject. A great little time filler for when you need the kids to work on their own or when they want something extra to do.

Handwriting Sheet
An A4 sheet with guidelines to help with handwriting practice and correct letter formation. With wide black lines and a red faint line as a guide for writing 'small' lower case letters.

Write and Draw Sheet
1/2 of the sheet has wide lines for guided writing and the other half is blank for drawing a picture. We used these for stories, sentance construction, copy work and to make a picture dictionary where the children drew a picture of the word and then wrote the definition underneath or made a sentance using the word - the younger children just practiced writing the word.

Flash Cards - High Frequency Words
Plain and simple flash cards of primary high frequency words.

Letter Tiles
Add a different dimension to spelling using these letter tiles in the Sassoon Primary font. I found these really useful for spelling tasks with my reluctant writer and constructing very simple sentances i.e. 'I am mum', 'The cat sat' etc.

Alphabet Tracing Sheet
This sheet has the alphabet printed in dotted writing for tracing. Why not laminate so your child can use it to write over and over again using a drywipe marker. Font has large dots indicating the starting point for correct letter formation.

Tricky Word Cards
Tricky words laid out so that they can either be printed on card and used as flash cards or, as we used them, printed on various coloured paper and used as 'bricks' on a 'tricky word wall' that was displayed on the wall - the kids loved to see the wall growing.

Book Template
I wish I could take credit for this as it's a great idea but I can't. I am afraid I can't remember where I picked it up but it's worth sharing - If it belongs to you please let me know so that I can credit it to you inshaAllah.

Tools for Organising and Planning- more coming soon inshaAllah!

Chores Chart
Use this chart to motivate your children to take responsibility for some of the chores around the house. If you don't mind using a reward system perhaps your child could earn a 'voucher' or a small gift when he or she completes the whole chart. The voucher can be for special 1 on 1 time with mum/dad; a rental video or DVD; a play day when the child can have his friends over; a trip to the park etc. The whole point of these exercises is to establish a habit. Why not make a chart for mum too, this seems to make this exercise all the more appealing to little ones!
