About Us

Stimulus Learning Resources is a small home-run business established in 2006 to encourage, inform, assist and support parents and home educators in the teaching of their children or to support their childs' school education.

I am a home educating mother of four and I decided to set up Stimulus after a friend introduced me to Lap Books™ (a revolutionary and highly successful approach to learning widely used in the USA), but I couldn’t get my hands on any books about it in the UK!

After finally obtaining some of these books from the USA my teaching method was revolutionised – I started to relax about home schooling and found that the kids and I were having much more fun whilst learning. They were even doing work that they had refused to do before! I began to share this method with some friends, showing them the books I had and some of the work the kids had done and they found them a real encouragement; especially those that were thinking about, or new to, home education! It is a method that suits all kinds of learners and educators and the children are really proud of their creations and naturally want to do more – no wonder it had taken the USA by storm!

So many friends wanted copies of the books and I got tired of saying “well you can’t get them in the UK….” I felt like I was building them up and then letting them down. I wanted to help, so I got more of the books, and there you have it! The idea for Stimulus Learning Resources was born.

Later I decided to also supply the stuff that I had found it difficult to obtain at reasonable prices i.e. science and technology supplies, good numeracy and literacy supplies, glue and craft stuff for making lap books etc. I want to make this site a real one-stop shop for home educators but it will take time so please be patient and come back often! We aim to increase our range with new books and resources all the time.

If there is something special you need, from sequins, to microscopes or bugs for rearing let me know – I will do what I can to source it for you!
